Lamar Promenade 2025 held at Wyatt Earp Park

Lamar’s Promenade 2025 was held from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at the Wyatt Earp Park. Prom attendees entered from the back of the stage and were announced as they walked across the stage, down the stairs and then up the walkway. Thankfully the weather allowed the promenade to be held at the park, with a large crowd gathering to view the many seniors prior to attending their prom that was held at the Gaderian in Carthage.

Naomi Schneider, daughter of Luke and Tanya Schneider, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. In her free time Naomi enjoys horseback riding, fishing with her brother, drawing, listening to music and playing outside. She has ducks, geese, horses, a dog, outside cats, chickens, bunnies and turkeys. Some things that are important to Naomi are family, grades and pets.

Couch honored with DAISY Award
Barton County Chamber of Commerce/Kristy Robertson The Barco Drive-In Theatre in Lamar celebrated its 75th anniversary on Sunday, April 26 and Monday, April 27, with a free showing of Smokey & The Bandit (PG). A special ribbon cutting was held by the Barton County Chamber of Commerce at 8 p.m. on Monday, with free cake being served. Plaza Theatre and Barco t-shirts were also for sale. The Barco is the longest continuous running drive-in theatre in Missouri, having never closed since its opening on April 28, 1950!

The 2025 Lamar High School Masquerade Senior Prom was held Saturday evening, April 26, at The Gaderian in Carthage. Prom king candidates included Koen Littlejohn, Luke Tabakian and Angel Angelov, with queen candidates being Isabel Osborne, Kayelee Crane and Mackenzie Breshears. Crowned were Luke Tabakian, king and Isabel Osborne, queen.
