              SHELDON- Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at the Sheldon Cemetery for Hugh M. Logan, 89, Sheldon, who died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, following a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be held at Ferry Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his name to the Vernon County Youth Fair, in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Survivors include three children, H.M. Logan and wife Terry, Sheldon, Dana Sheat and husband Chris, Lamar and Kim Greer and husband Terry, Nevada, Mo.; grandchildren Katlyn Logan, Whitney Forst, Jordan Sheat, Teryn Greer, Logan Sheat, Paige Greer, Carly Mitchell, Kelli Sheat and Bryce Greer and great-grandchildren Bronson Daulton, Kaidence Wise, Jace Duncan, Bentley Wise, Rylee Forst, Michael Bush, Nicholas Bush, Charlotte Mitchell and Ryder Forst. Other survivors include a brother, David Logan and wife Lee, Jefferson City.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Marilyn Jackson Logan, who died in August of 2009 and a granddaughter, Kerry Duncan.
Mr. Logan was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Luther David and Frances Logan. Due to his father’s career with the Texaco Pipeline, he lived in a variety of small communities as a child, then they moved to Sheldon where he graduated from Sheldon High School in 1952. He had a lengthy career as a brakeman for the Missouri Pacific and later Union Pacific Railroads and was also a farmer in the Sheldon area. He was a longtime chair of the Vernon County Youth Fair Beef Committee and a member of the Drywood Township Board. He was also a member of the Vernon County Farm Bureau Board.
