DOUGLAS KEITH YOUNT
MINDENMINES- Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Fort Scott National Cemetery, 900 East National Avenue, Fort Scott, Kan., for Douglas Keith Young, 81, Mindenmines, who died early on November 13, 2023, at his home in Mindenmines.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; his sons, Keith and Dan and stepdaughter, Becki; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his siblings, Wayne Portia, Darlene and Tommy. He is also survived by his favorite dog, Cindy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rollo and Molly; a granddaughter, Cyndi and siblings, Jerry, Sue and Marlene.
Mr. Yount was born May 9, 1942, in Lamar, to Rollo and Molly Yount. He attended Lamar schools and joined the United States Army in May of 1959. He completed is basic training at Fort Leonard Wood and served overseas in Germany in the 3rd Armored Division’s 122nd Ordinance Battalion. In 1963 he entered the United States Air Force and served in Kessler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss. and overseas in Greece. He also worked as a civilian mechanic alongside his son, Keith, in Iraq in 2008.
He married Connie Vaughn on Dec. 14, 1999, in Miami, Okla. Family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them. He also enjoyed hunting and working on vehicles. He was an expert mechanic, that was much appreciated by many family members. He especially enjoyed attending auctions with his wife Connie.
