JANICE MAE SWEET

IANTHA- A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Iantha Baptist Church, for Janice Mae Sweet, 78, Iantha, who died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024.
Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate assistance with final expenses.

Survivors include her children, Holly Chism and husband Andrew, Joplin, Willa Doubledee, Iantha, Timothy Doubledee and wife Sandy, Cape Girardeau and Lisa Kent and husband Chris, Joplin and grandchildren, Daniel and Kathryn. She is also survived by her siblings, Oneta Sweet, Iantha, Darlene Livingston and husband Clark, Jasper and Terrie Sweet, Iantha; sister-in-law, Norma Eaves, Iantha; nephews, Steven Sweet and wife Priscilla, Lamar, Charles Sweet and wife Autumn, Neosho and Kent Sweet, Iantha, as well as many cousins that she loved very much.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Aaron Sweet and a daughter, Tara Wegner.
Mrs. Sweet was born in Jasper to Walter and Iris (Howard) Sweet and graduated from Jasper High School in 1963. She was married to John Doubledee from 1978 to 1986. She worked in a few places in her life including Horton’s Dime Store in Lamar and at the MFA in Iantha, but her true career was as mom. She enjoyed baking, especially cookies and bread and grew beautiful roses.
Mrs. Sweet always put her family first. She loved God and raised her children to know the Lord, reading them Bible stories and singing hymns to put them to bed at night. She was a wonderful loving mother.
