LIBERAL- Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Daniel Funeral in Lamar for Bobby Dale Ramsey, 93, Liberal, who died Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at Seasons Care Center in Kansas City, Mo. Burial followed at Bakers Grove Cemetery in Lamar.

The family received friends prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m.

Survivors include one son, David Ramsey and wife Judy, Kansas City, Mo.; five daughters, Vicky Deering, Smithville, Vicki Volkman and husband Carl, Pineville, Sandra Sutton and husband John, Leonard Town, Md., Nanette Shoemaker, Kansas City, Mo. and Angela Lemieux and husband Patrick, Kansas City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia; his second wife, Kay; one brother, Eugene Cox; one sister, Jane Nutting and two grandsons, Jacob Williams and Johnathan Callison.

Mr. Ramsey was born Sept. 8, 1930, in Pittsburg, Kan., to Charles C. Ramsey and Nanniel Elizabeth (Adcock). On Feb. 4, 1955 he married Virginia Lea Miller in Miami, Okla. and she preceded him in death in 2007. He married Lola "Kay" VanDorn on Sept. 4, 2010 in Liberal and she preceded him in death in 2018.

Mr. Ramsey worked as a supervisor for 30 plus years at the Kansas City Water Department, while also working as a night manager at Red-X grocery store for 27 years. He also owned and operated a grocery store in Jerico Springs for six years. He was a member of the VFW and he loved to travel. He became an ordained minister at the age of 82, so that he had the honor of marrying his grandson, Johnathan Dale. He was a jack of all trades but a master of none. He was thrilled that his family continued the tradition of using his middle name "Dale" in many of the names of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He attended Lamar Christian Church and also Callaway Baptist Church in Callaway, Md.
