The odds of being born a leap year baby are one in 1,461, so image what they are when a leap year baby turns 100! Margaret Wattenbarger celebrated her 25th (100th) birthday with a gathering at Truman Healthcare from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29. Several family and friends, along with residents, joined in the celebration for Margaret. Tables were laden with goodies, cupcakes and punch and not only was there a cake wishing her a 100th birthday, but also a smaller one off to the side that was adorned with a 25 candle. A 100th birthday banner was also hanging behind the table that held the cakes. Margaret donned her birthday finery, complete with a tiara and her “fabulous” sash as she had her picture taken with her children, Jan, Jamie, Gary and Carol. Also pictured is Margaret visiting with her nephew, Kent Harris. Cards can still be sent to her at 206 W. 1st St., Lamar, MO 64759.
