The Barton County Chamber of Commerce kicked off the new year with Breakfast with Bailey, an event that had been postponed from last month, due to inclement weather. The breakfast was held Wednesday morning, Feb. 17, at the Lamar United Methodist Church. Lamar head football coach Scott Bailey spoke to the crowd before opening up to a question and answer forum. He emphasized that the football staff's key role is to teach that leadership is influence, commenting that if someone has the power to influence, then they are a leader. The football program also teaches the importance of academics, as well as respect and the ability to be humble. Evidently the staff is doing something right as Lamar has won the state championship five years in a row.
