The Lamar High School Class of 2024 held its graduation ceremony at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, at the Thomas M. O’Sullivan Stadium. Friends and family gathered in the stands, as well as seating on the field to cheer on the graduates as they advance to the next phase in their life. The Salutatorian address was presented by Kase Overstreet, with Alyssa Powell providing the Valedictorian address. Senior band members performed, “The Rolling Stones on Tour”, along with Audrie Shaver singing, “Those Nights” by Melina KB. Presentation of the diplomas were given by members of the Lamar R-1 Board of Education, along with Lamar R-1 Superintendent Dr. Benjamin O’Connor, as Lamar High School Principal Jennifer Beem read off the names. As each student exited the stage, they were presented a flower courtesy of the junior class.
