LIBERAL- Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin for Cheryl Kay Williams, 80, Liberal, who died peacefully at Via Christie Village in Pittsburg, Kan. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, following an extended illness. Burial of ashes will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, in Bala Cemetery, near Manhattan, Kan.

Survivors include her husband, Frank; a daughter, Pam Baldridge and husband Rodney, Liberal; a son, Todd Williams and wife Sherry, Smithville; sisters, Oliva Foster and husband Mike, Springfield and Melodie Bateman, Collinsville, Okla.; a brother, Chris Kennedy and wife Alyssa, Monett; brother-in-laws, Bob Williams and wife Diana, Manhattan, Kan. and Richard Williams and wife Edna, Junction City, Kan.; five grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

Mrs. Williams was born Jan. 14, 1944, in Clay Center, Kan., to Harold Black and Olive (Sandberg) Black-Kennedy. After graduating school in Riley, Kan. she married her sweetheart, Frank Ronald Williams in March of 1962 in Bala, Kan.

She was active in many things throughout her lifetime. One to not just stay home, she was a bookkeeper for many companies throughout the years. Some of those jobs include Safeway Grocery, Sears Catalog Store, Mid-American Dairy and eventually retired from Barton County Hospital in 2009. Her greatest job would be raising her family as a homemaker.

Her faith was very important to her and her love for the Lord was very prevalent in all she did. She attended Congregational Church and Community Bible Church in Sabetha, Kan., before eventually moving to Liberal and became a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lamar. Other activities that she enjoyed would included baking birthday cakes for family, camping and even enjoyed doing laundry but hated housekeeping. She would be found often outside working in her gardens, attending garage sales and working in the shop refinishing old furniture.
