National Night Out, an event that was designed to bring the community together in order to support participation in anti-crime efforts, was held Tuesday, Aug. 6, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the Lamar City Park. The event was a joint endeavor between the Lamar Police Department, the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, the Lamar Fire Department and the Barton County Ambulance. Many civic organizations also participated including AOK, Girl Scout Troop 702 and the Lamar Elks Lodge No. 2800. Although it was a hot summer evening, many took time to enjoy the K9 demonstration provided by Toby Luce and Justin Ehrsam with the sheriff’s department, featuring Barrett and Magnum.
