Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Ground was broken on Friday, May 2, for the Golden City School Farm. Prior to the groundbreaking, those speaking were, left to right, Caleb Hughes, Robby Stafford, Ag teacher Michael Lee and Golden City School Superintendent Dennis Kimzey. Following the presentation of a grant by Arvest Bank and recognition given by Kimzey, Lee and Stafford, members of the school board and FFA members joined in to celebrate the new school farm. Stafford was this year’s FFA president, with Hughes being inducted as the next president during their banquet held later that evening.

Lucas Garfield, son of Ben and Da'Lacey Garfield, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. His favorite sport is golf. His favorite subject is Social Studies, because of Mr. Castle. Lucas likes playing Fortnite, playing with friends and going to Florida.

Tricia Leivan of Lamar and Aaron Leivan of Lamar proudly announce the engagement of their daughter, Hailey Ella-May Leivan, to Dimetri Ethan Byers both of Lamar. Dimetri is the son of Tina Byers of Lamar and Bo Byers of Greenfield. The couple has planned a wedding ceremony in June of 2025
