The Barton County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, in observance of Lamar Bank & Trust’s Centennial Shelter, situated at the Lamar City Park. The project, completed by Jerod Gardner Construction, included complete razing and rebuilding of the 68 year old shelter house 3. Sponsored entirely by the bank, it is their belief that this will reflect its deep-rooted commitment to giving back to the community that they have served for a century. The shelter now includes a new concrete floor, along with other items including a closed ceiling and lighting. Lamar City Alderman Brian Griffith and LBT CEO Pat O’Neal both spoke prior to the ribbon cutting. Employees of Lamar Bank & Trust, along with Jerod Gardner and members from the City of Lamar and Barton County Chamber board gathered for the ribbon cutting.
