January 09, 2026
Alice Zeina (Evert) Porter, age 100, of Lamar, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Parkview Healthcare in Bolivar, Missouri.
Alice was born on July 15, 1925, in Concordia, Kansas, to Elic and Ima (Moore) Porter. She was a proud graduate of Sparta High School, where she graduated as Valedictorian in 1944, a reflection of her dedication and strong character.
On May 21, 1944, Alice married Martin Taylor Porter, Sr. Martin served his country in the United States Army, and following his military service, he, Alice, and their son Martin Jr. lived in both Kansas and Missouri. Their second son, Kenneth, was born while they were living in Missouri.
Alice was a deeply religious woman whose faith guided her entire life. She attended church faithfully whenever the doors were open and worshiped at several congregations over the years, including the Assembly of God Church in Golden City and in Lamar and the Full Gospel Tabernacle, a little country church she dearly loved. Church was her greatest joy and central to who she was. She shared her musical talents by playing the accordion and piano during church services and was well known for her warm hospitality and welcoming spirit.
Alice worked alongside her husband in his body shop, where she helped install windshields, straighten fenders, and assist with body work, never afraid of hard work and always willing to help wherever she was needed.
She is survived by her two sons, Martin Porter Jr. of Bolivar, Missouri, and Kenneth (Rebecca) Porter of Galena, Kansas; five grandchildren, Tony Porter, John Porter, Randy Porter, Tina Frates, and Kathy Banuelos; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin Taylor Porter, Sr.; her parents; her daughter-in-law, Linda Porter; and her siblings.
Alice will be remembered for her unwavering faith, servant’s heart, love of music, and devotion to family and church. Her life was a testament to faith, hard work, and kindness, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Monday January 12, 2026, at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Rogersville, MO.
