Students introduce use of vertical board at Lamar R-1 board meeting

West Elementary students of Mrs. O’Sullivan and Mrs. Morey’s fifth grade classes gave a presentation at the January Lamar R-1 School Board meeting, regarding Building Thinking Classrooms. Students use a vertical board in order to work together as they solve problems in random groups of three. The idea is that students are more likely to share in a small group as they are more engaged and can focus longer and teachers are better able to observe their work as it’s being done.
