Steve was born on October 1, 1952, in Lockwood, MO the son of Thomas Ray and Annabell (Brewer) Moore. He grew up on a farm in Everton, MO with siblings Peggy, Conita and Olin. Steve was all boy and 100% ornery! He was known to do such ornery things as fashion makeshift parachutes out of his mother's tablecloths to launch the barn cats off the top of the barn (the cats got even). He loved sports and tinkering with motorcycles and fast cars.
Steve attended Everton Schools and graduated from Everton High School Class of 1970. It was here he would make and keep lifelong friendships. Some of these friends were even present at his bedside the day he passed away.
He was drafted into the military in 1972, serving as an MP in the US Army. He trained at Fort Riley in Manhattan, KS and spent one year, 1974-1975, at Bitburg Air Base, Germany. In 1974 he was united in marriage to Brenda Friend, and to this union two daughters were born, Shelley Renae and Barbra Ann. Upon returning home from his military service Steve worked as a skilled carpenter for many years.
Later in life, Steve became employed at O'Sullivan Industries in Lamar, MO and married Pamela Moore. After O'Sullivan Industries permanently closed, Steve worked for the City of Lamar. For the last 10 years he and Pam were building managers for Gulf Street Partners (located in the old O'Sullivan building).
Steve loved the outdoors. He spent many summers playing in men's and co-ed softball leagues. Being one of the oldest on the teams, he affectionatley earned the nickname "Daddo" from his teammates. Deer hunting and hunting morels were also favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed people-watching at the casinos when Pam was hitting her jackpots. Steve and Pam kept in close contact with his high school classmates over the years, celebrating special occasions like class reunions and birthdays frequently.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings, Peggy Horton and Olin Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Moore, of the home, 4 children: Shelley Mills (Curtis) of Clinton, MO, Barbra Decker (Scott) of Greenfield, MO, Monica Philips (Glen) of Union, MO and Nicole Howarth (Jeff) of St. Clair, MO; 4 grandchildren: Jayd Thomas Forst, Madeline Marie Mills, Riley Ray Mills and Renae Finis Mills, his sister Conita Vandegrift of Springfield, MO, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Steve was one of a kind. He will be greatly missed.
