Photos by Catherine Williams Junior Ava Garrett, one of two girls who qualified for the State Track Meet, qualified in the Javelin. She works very hard to improve, taking lessons and working on her own time. She didn't make it through Districts last year and had a goal to make it to state this year. Her personal best throw came at Sectionals, a throw of 34.28m (112' 5"), which was a third place finish. Garrett made it through preliminaries at State to the finals, and completed her throws, managing a throw of 33.73m (110' 8") for a seventh place finish.
