A large crowd gathered on Friday night, July 3, as the First Baptist Church in Lamar delighted them with a spectacular fireworks extravaganza. The Fourth of July celebration, Faith Family & Fireworks, has been a staple in the community for nine years and unfortunately, due to economic restraints, this will be the final year that the event will be put on by the church. The evening began at 7 p.m., with 1,000 hot dogs being cooked up, along with bags of chips and lots of water. Cars were packed into the church’s parking lot, as well as lining the road all the way from Wheeler Park to East Primary. The fireworks this year did not disappoint and everyone appeared to be having a great time as they enjoyed the praise band and a time of worship prior to the show.
