LENA “CHRIS” FARMER

LIBERAL-A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Liberal City Park building, for Lena “Chris” Farmer, 79, Liberal, who died at 2:20 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2016, at her home, with her family by her side.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.

Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur Farmer, of the home; her daughters, Ann Delp and husband Jack and Patricia Wright and husband Kenneth, both of Galax, Va., Teresa Taylor and husband Don and Joyce Engle and husband Joe, both of Liberal; a brother, Wayne Sexton and a sister, Imogene Spence, Galax, Va.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Riley; a sister, Fern and a brother, Virgil.

Mrs. Farmer was born May 25, 1936, at Galax, Va., to Gray and Willie (Aldred) Sexton. She married Jack Riley on Jan. 18, 1958 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1998. She married Arthur Farmer on April 8, 2002.

Mrs. Farmer was well known for her homemade pies and home cooking. She owned and operated several eating establishments in Liberal. She enjoyed gardening and the outdoors, as well as watching the St. Louis Cardinals. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her great-grandkids.
