Mr. Clements was born May 5, 1927, in Lamar, to Lee and Ruth (Joyce) Clements. He grew up on the farm, helping his dad and eventually took over the operation from his folks. Farming and cattle were his lifelong occupation, except for his service in the Navy toward the end of WWII. It wasn't unusual for him to haul cattle to Kansas City overnight and after a brief nap farm all day. The family and the farm were always his priorities.
There was no one prouder of and more involved with his grandchildren. He was active for many years on the Lamar R1 School Board and was past president of the Barton County Water District, as well as being on the board of Lamar Bank & Trust from 1975 to 2004. He also had a non-commercial pilots license and enjoyed flying.
He married Wuanita “June” Burkhart on Aug. 27, 1949, in Bentonville, Ark. She preceded him in death.
