LAMAR-A memorial gathering will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at the Eagles Lodge in Lamar, for Jerold Quarles, 77, Lamar, who died peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, June 21, 2016. A private family burial with graveside military rites will take place in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Lamar.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis Goodwin Funeral Home, Webb City.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Louis.

Survivors include his wife, Norma, of the home; son, Terry Quarles and wife Pamela, Webb City; daughter, Mischele Callaghan and husband Michael, Lamar; grandchildren, Kristin Quarles and fiance Casey Drummond, Webb City, Jeffrey Carsel and wife Laura, Golden City, Austin Carsel and wife Jamy, Lamar and Michael and Dustin Butcher, Webb City; great-grandchildren, Sophie-Jo Quarles, Webb City, Caitlyn and Remington Carsel, Golden City and Breanna and Cali Butcher, Alba, and a host of extended family.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bob, Charles, Gene and Harold Dean Quarles and one sister, Joyce Brown.
Mr. Quarles was born Sept. 13, 1938, in Sheldon, to Lee Harris and Eunice (Plain) Quarles. He later resided in Iantha and Liberal, graduating from Liberal High School in 1956. He joined the U.S. Army in 1961, serving his country faithfully until 1967. He also served in the Missouri National Guard. Mr. Quarles worked for O'Sullivan Industries in Lamar for 25 years. He also worked for Thorco Industries in Lamar and for his son, Terry, at Quarles Construction in Webb City. He was a nine year member of the Barton County Eagles 4405 in Lamar, serving as trustee for seven years. He was also a Mason and Shriner of Mirza Shrine, Pittsburg, Kan.
He married Norma Duncan in Miami, Okla. on June 2, 1972, and together they shared 44 years.
