Barger recognized at flag retirement

Photo for Lamar Democrat by Willis Strong Joseph Barger of Liberal holds the medal of honor that was presented in behalf of his grandfather. Barger was present at the flag retirement ceremony held June 14, at the Liberal south city park. Barger's grandfather, PFC Charles Denver Barger, served in World War I from January of 1918 to June 3, 1919. Other grandchildren of PFC Barger are Mary Ann McCarthy, Lamar and Donna Waggerman, Independence.
