NIXA-A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Springfield for Jacob Allen Gilbert, 13, Nixa, a courageous boy who could make anyone smile, who died at his home on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Hosea Bilyeu will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Nixa.

Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service, beginning at 9 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Arvest Bank.

Survivors include his parents, Mark and Rhonda (Ragsdale) Gilbert; his grandmothers, Charlene Ambro, High Ridge and Wilma Gilbert, Lamar; his brother, Zach Glossip, Springfield; two sisters, Mandy Winefeldt and husband Mickeal, Lockwood and Carissa Gilbert, Springfield; two aunts, Jan Wood and husband Mark, Florissant and Sheri Hunter and husband Mike, Cedartown, Ga.; an uncle, Brian Gilbert and wife Gwen, Lamar; a nephew, Brett Winefeldt; a niece, Raven Winefeldt and seven cousins, Caleb, Adam, Aaron, Sarah, Heidi, Leslie and Emily.

Although confined at home, he loved life. He enjoyed rock 'n roll, pretty girls, baseball and the TV show Emergency. On his 10th birthday he threw out the first pitch at a Cardinal baseball game. He was able to visit Disney World at the age of three and never forgot the fun he had. He was all boy, scaring nurses and playing pranks whenever the opportunity would arise.
