LAMAR-Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Konantz Warden Funeral Home for Elsie N. Griffitt, 88, Lamar, who died Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Truman Healthcare. Pastor David Beard of Liberal officiated. Burial was in Lake Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Kenny and Dean Griffitt; a daughter, Reta Crews and husband Steve; seven grandchildren, Mandy Comer and husband Lamont, Carly Copher and husband Rob, Jessie Williams, Tracey Whitley, Aaron Crews and wife Kristen, Anthony Crews and Renea Watson; 17 great-grandchildren, Hanna, Jacob and Zeke Comer, Emily and Cullen Copher, Corwin, Keegen and Luke Williams, Toby McIver (and Kayla Basnett), Sabrina Spilman, Riley Henson, Ryan and Evan Crews, Kaden and Terrin McDowell and Madison and Jordyn Watson and many nieces and nephews, as well as Susie Griffitt, who was faithful in her visits and keeping her family informed, as well as her Truman Healthcare family.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Irwin, Albert, Walter Jr. and Raymond Williams and four sisters, Mary Powell, Gertrude Bowling and Ivy and Irene Williams.

Mrs. Griffitt was born Jan. 5, 1928, in Lamar, to Walter Lee and Julia “Pearl” Amelia (Seybold) Williams. She was a lifetime resident of Lamar. As a young lady she married Jeff Griffitt and they latter divorced. She started working at Chastains Nursing Home, currently Truman Healthcare, as a nurse's aide and a med-tech in 1975. Later she worked at O'Sullivan Industries, retiring in 1990 due to declining health. She was always a faithful Christian lady and was very involved with her church until she was unable to attend. Even then, she continued to enjoy the Christian ministry programs on TV.
