WINFIELD, Kan.-Services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Quail Valley Farms, 9315 194th Drive, Winfield, for Kenneth Jay Salzman, 56, Winfield, who died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at his home. Burial was follow at 4 p.m. Friday, at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Golden City, Mo.
There will be a celebration dinner held Thursday, Aug. 4, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Quail Valley Farms for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name have been established with the FFA of Cowley County and the EAA Young Eagle Flight Program. Contributions may be left in care of Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
Survivors include his daughter, Shanell Isom and husband Craig, Winfield; a son, Jeremiah Salzman and wife Amanda, Winfield; his father, Jerauld H. Salzman, Sr.; two brothers, Jerauld H. Salzman, Jr., Lockwood, Mo. and Douglas Salzman, Golden City, Mo.; his former spouse, Shona and his grandchildren, Lauren, Darien, Abby, Reese, Ella Sophia, Ava and Marek.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marlene (Webber) Salzman.
Mr. Salzman was born March 16, 1960, in Kankakee, Ill., to Jerauld H. Salzman Sr. and F. Marlene (Webber) Salzman. The middle of three sons, he began farming while in high school, later moving to Kansas where he owned and operated Salzman Building and Salzman Concrete (American Concrete of Ark City). He became a pilot in 2008 and loved to fly. He took most pride in running Quail Valley Farms in Winfield. He also loved to spend time with his family, especially his eight grandkids.
