LAMAR-Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at Daniel Funeral Home for Weston C Breshears, 79, Lamar, who died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Burial was in Morehead Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Patricia Breshears; one brother, Alan Breshears and wife Sally; two sisters, Barbara (Breshears) Rector and Juanita Schmidt, Platte City, Colo.; three daughters, Kathy Watkins and husband Michael, Wrightwood, Calif., Toni Smith and husband Randy, Branson and Betti Henry and husband John, Crofton, Ky.; two sons, Michael Breshears and wife Melody, Tulsa, Okla. and Robert Breshears and wife Karen, Warrensburg; 17 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia (Jeffries) Shelton; a grandson, Kenneth E. Hicks Jr. and a brother, Jerry Breshears.

Mr. Breshears was born May 28, 1937, to Lydia (Jeffries) Shelton and John Breshears. He was a man of service, serving his family, his country during his career in the U.S. Air Force, his church as an active member of Liberty Baptist Church of Lamar and community as an active member of the local Gideon chapter.

He placed his faith in Jesus Christ and was saved at a very early age. He served as deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher, pastor's confidant and trusted friend. He loved the Lord with all his heart and served Him faithfully all his days.

When he retired from the Air Force in September of 1975, he then worked at Solid State Circuit in Springfield until moving to Lamar, where he became an active member of Liberty Baptist Church. He substituted at the Christian school, where he imparted his vast knowledge of science as related to God's Holy Word.
