HAZEL MOORE

JOPLIN-A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Park Plaza Christian Church, 3220 Indiana Ave., Joplin, for Hazel Irene Moore, 88, a long-time Joplin resident that died peacefully on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stygar Mid Rivers Funeral Home.

Survivors include her three children, Beth Troxel, Kansas City, Mo., Mike McClanahan, Chandler, Ariz. and Pat McClanahan, St. Charles; several great-grandchildren and grandchildren and two sisters, Marcella Norton and Marjorie Fry.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Paulette Clift and husband, Ralph Moore; sisters, Jesse Lee and Anna VanGilder and brothers, Dale Holt and Warren Holt.

Mrs. Moore was born April 16, 1928, in Lamar, to Flora Faurot and Dennis Holt. She grew up on a farm and developed a strong work ethic. She had worked for several years in Joplin at Kroger's Grocery Stores and then Safeway Store on 4th Street. In her later years she volunteered at the gift shop inside St. John's Hospital, creating her own hand crafted flower arrangements for the hospital.

She attended Forest Park Baptist Church and then became a member of Park Plaza Christian Church. She loved creating cross-stitchings, crochets and quilts and enjoyed antique shopping. In the 60's and 70's, she was an avid bowler at Bowl-a-Rama on 7th and Rangeline. She loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
