OSWEGO, Kan.-A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar, Mo. for Charles DeWayne Waring, 59, Oswego, who died Friday morning, Oct. 21, 2016, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Burial will be in Iantha (Mo.) Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or American Stroke Association, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include a son, Jimmy Waring, Frontenac; two brothers, Billy Waring and wife Lawana, Mulberry and John Waring, Frontenac; three sisters, Rose Marie Miley and husband Gary, Racine, Mo., Rosetta Pulley, Topeka, and Sue Waring, Frontenac; a stepdaughter, Brandi Johns, Mindenmines, Mo.; several grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend, Tom Goodwin and wife Sue, Pineville, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Sonny Baston and a stepdaughter, Misty Johns.

Mr. Waring was born Jan. 13, 1957, in Lamar, Mo., to Harley and Rosalie (Swift) Waring.

Returning home after serving in the U.S. Army, he followed his lifelong interest and knowledge of cars and motorcycles to operate Charlie's Salvage Yard in Mindenmines, Mo. His willingness to share his automotive skills and problem-solving abilities quickly turned customers into friends. He truly enjoyed their friendship and appreciated their fellowship after declining health forced him to retire.

He never lost interest in Harley bikes or stock car races and always looked forward to any time spent with family, especially if it included the kids.

He was a member of Believers Bible Church in Pittsburg.
