JERICO SPRINGS-Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar for Norma Rae Jeffries, 83, Jerico Springs, who died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at her home. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Anna Edna Cemetery near Jerico Springs.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her children, Connie White and husband Gary, Lamar, Billy Jeffries and wife Peg, Lamar, Tommie Jeffries, Jerico Springs, Bobby Jeffries and wife Bobetta, Lamar and Teressa Melvin and husband Bill, Jerico Springs; two stepdaughters, Glenda Allen, Monett and Jan Jacquinot and husband Dick, St. Paul, Kan.; two brothers; four sisters; a sister-in-law, Edna Hornbeck and husband Dale, Stockton; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, on May 30, 1994, after nearly 43 years of marriage; two daughters, Linda Faye Roe and Brenda Lee Nikodim; two brothers, Roy Porter Kenney and John Marvin Kenney and a sister, Mae Louise Wright.

Mrs. Jeffries was born Nov. 9, 1932, in the Cane Hill community, third of the 10 children of Aulton Brooks and Lois (Porterfield) Kenney. She married Glenn D. Jeffries on Sept. 1, 1951, and they made their home and reared their seven children in Jerico Springs. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she and her husband operated Jeffries Markets in Jerico Springs, Sheldon, Liberal, Schell City, Rockville and Arcola. She had also worked at the Nevada State Hospital more than 30 years and had served as Jerico Springs water clerk for 10 years. She quilted, crocheted and sewed and loved sharing beautiful projects with family and friends. She looked forward to family gatherings and cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
