MARTHA MARLOW
NEVADA, Mo.-Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, at the Lockwood United Methodist Church for Martha Leona Marlow, 86, who died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at the Barone Alzheimer's Care Center in Nevada. Pastor Travis James will officiate. Burial will follow in Lockwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, beginning at 10:30 a.m. until the O.E.S. Service that will begin at 11:20 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lockwood United Methodist Church or the Barone Alzheimer's Care Center, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her children, Betty Jo Laflen and husband Jerry, Moundville, Joseph D. Marlow, Jr. and wife Tammy, Springfield, Becky Jane Toler and husband Kenneth, Bolivar, Martin Marlow and wife Beth, Springfield; a son-in-law, Lyndon Irwin, Bois D' Arc; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Hensley, Odessa and Jane Hacker, Blue Springs; a brother-in-law, Howard Marlow; a sister-in-law, Bobby Marlow and numerous extended family members and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jean Irwin and four siblings, Kenneth New, Howard New, JoAnn Kurtz and Opal New.
Mrs. Marlow was born June 29, 1930, in Baldwin City, Kan., to Walter Lee and Elsie Mae (Mateer) New. She attended school in Archie, Bronaugh and was a 1947 graduate of Liberal High School. She was a homemaker and worked as a school secretary in Dadeville. She was an accomplished seamstress, a wonderful cook and loved to read. She spent many hours helping her husband in the vegetable garden and canning. She loved spending time with her grandchildrenh and great-grandchildren and attending their music, theater and sports events. She was also active in various garden clubs and church organizations, but she especially enjoyed over 50 years as an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She married Joseph D. Marlow on June 3, 1947. He died Jan. 18, 2016.
