LARRY PASHIA

LAMAR-A memorial mass will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Pashia, 77, Lamar, who died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at his church home, St. Mary's Catholic Church, surrounded by his church family, as he was presenting a plea for a parish capitol campaign. A celebration of life reception will be held in the parish hall, following the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Capitol Campaign at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lamar.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Tharp, St. Louis; three sons, Tim Pashia and wife Donna, Lamar, Jim Pashia, Webb City and Steve Pashia and wife Nakita, St. Louis; nine grandchildren, Matt Tharp, Jessica, Nick, Theodore, Nathan, Emily, Jordon, Dallas and Camden Pashia; three great-grandchildren, Makinley, Jaydon and Keylee and one more on the way and seven brothers and sisters, Monica, Paul, Fran, John, Mary Catherine, James and Theresa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; a brother, Vincent and a daughter-in-law, Joan Pashia.
Mr. Pashia was born July 5, 1939, in Old Mines, to Lawrence Z. and Ann L. (Robart) Pashia. After graduating from St. Joachim High School in Old Mines, he embarked upon a brief career as a shoe salesman. He married Mary Ann Evans at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Jennings and soon after he worked at Tubular Steel Inc., in the steel yard and advanced quickly to yard foreman, and then was promoted to the sales department. He later left the company to drive a truck for Road Runner Express, but was lured back to Tubular Steel to resume his successful sales career.
Shortly after retirement and following the death of his wife, he moved to Lamar to be near family. While in Lamar he worked for the golf course as a groundskeeper and was very active in his church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Masonic Lodge. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and foraging for wild asparagus and blackberries.
