LAMAR-Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakton United Methodist Church for Elaine Brannon, 85, Lamar, who died Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at Maple Senior Living in Lamar. Pastors Kent and Larry Garfield will officiate. Burial will be at Oakton Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oakton United Methodist Church Building Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Coon and husband Jim, Joplin and Connie Pagacz and husband Doug, Lamar; nine grandchildren, Nicole Brannon, Suwanee, Ga., Kylie Bourland and husband Paul, Sierra Vista, Ariz., Kevin Gardner and wife Heidi, Joplin, Chris Gardner and wife Cathy Jo, Joplin, Kim Bronson and husband Bobby, Lamar, Katie Johnson and husband David, Lamar and Kenlee Jonas, Joplin, Cortney Warren and husband Richard, Lamar and Travis Waters and wife Sherri, Webb City; a brother-in-law, George Dale Brannon and wife Pat, Bella Vista, Ark., 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Monte Dale Brannon and Danny Lee Brannon; a sister, Edna High and husband Dale; two brothers, Charles Pickens and wife Grace and Guy H. Pickens and wife Myrtle; a nephew, Gilmer Pickens and a niece, Sherry Wallace.

Mrs. Brannon was born Aug. 7, 1931, in Leedey, Okla., to Guy and Opal Pickens. She was a 1949 graduate of Mancos (Colo.) High School in and graduated from cosmetology school in Pittsburg, Kan., in 1960. She was a member of Oakton United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Brannon owned and operated Elaine's Beauty Shop until her retirement. Her love of music was well-known in Barton County, serving as choir director at Oakton United Methodist for many years, playing the piano and directing many singing groups over the years including The Ambassadors, The Little Blessings (also known as the Super Gang), The Redeemed and others. She helped to organize the annual Lamar Fair Gospel Sing for many years and in 1981 was named Beta Sigma Phi Woman of the Year.

She married Calvin Brannon on Oct. 27, 1948, in Mancos, Colo. He died Nov. 15, 2010.
