GENE COFIELD

LAMAR-A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Howell Cemetery in Milford for Cecil G. “Gene” Cofield, 87, Lamar, who died early Monday morning, Jan. 23, 2017, at Comfort Care Homes of Pittsburg, Kan. Pastor Mark Garfield will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Contributions are suggested to Howell Cemetery or Alzheimer's Association, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include one son, Keith and wife Debbie, Henderson, Texas; two daughters, Tina Sims and husband Kenny, Nixa and Cynthia Lawrence and husband Eric, Lamar; one brother, Terry Cofield and wife Carol; seven grandchildren, Rusty McClenan, CJay McClenan, Kracinda Sims, Kee Sims, Chelsey Moore, Austin Lawrence and Ethan Lawrence and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Faye in 2003 and three brothers, E.J., James and Edward Cofield.
Mr. Cofield was born March 21, 1929, in Bardwell, Texas, to James Gilliam and Mary Ethel (Vise) Cofield. He married Alice Faye Franks on July 16, 1949, and together they reared three children. He retired as a heavy construction project manager for H.B. Zachry Construction after 33 years. He purchased a farm near Milford in 1964, where he raised cattle and crops.
