JASPER-Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fellowship Cemetery in Rescue for Donna May Chapman, 65, Jasper, who died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, following a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held prior to the graveside service, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage.

Donations may be made to the Donna May Chapman Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 45 years, Jerry; her three children, Vincent DeWayne Ashworth and wife Kathy, Sheldon, Jerry Lynn Chapman, Jr. and wife Sarah, Carthage and Shauna Renee Chapman Walker and husband Shae, Bentonville, Ark.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends and a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Dora Lee Poindexter and two brothers, Jim Fuget and Richard Fuget.

Mrs. Chapman was born Jan. 5, 1952, in Carthage, to Marion and Adelene (Long) Fuget. She first married Vincent E. Ashworth, with one child being born to this union. She later married the true love of her life, Jerry L. Chapman, Sr., on March 11, 1972, in Carthage.

Mrs. Chapman attended Carthage High School and following her marriage to Jerry Chapman, who was enlisted in the United States Air Force, they traveled to many parts of the world, eventually making their home in Jasper.

She worked at Con-Agra Turkey Plant, St. Luke's Nursing Home, Truman Healthcare, PAR in Jasper and retired from the Carthage Walmart in 2014, following 17 years of service. She was a member of the Carthage American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed fishing, camping and bowling. Her greatest achievement in life was her family. She was extremely proud of her children, but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her world.
