Infant dies unexpectedly in daycare

March 09, 2017

LAMAR-A five-month-old infant was found unresponsive during a routine check of sleeping children, March 7, at Lamar Family Daycare. Workers immediately called 911, and attempted CPR, but to no avail. An ambulance arrived momentarily, but found the child had already expired.
The parents of the child are Katie Rutledge and Russell Barnes. The parents and daycare workers at Lamar Family Daycare were shocked by the unexpected loss of the 5-month-old, who was named Adam.

The Barton County Coroner listed the cause of death as SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). SIDS may include low birth weight, respiratory infection, and delayed brain development.

It was reported that the child had experienced some respiratory problems, but appeared healthy and happy when he was put down for a nap.

A GoFundMe page has been started on Facebook to help the family financially.

Services for Adam were held Saturday morning at Daniel Funeral Home.
