LAMAR- Services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Konantz Warden Funeral Home for Carla Leigh McMasters Hammers, 50, Lamar, who died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, following a 14 year battle with cancer. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Virgil City Cemetery, north of Jerico Springs and south of El Dorado Springs.

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday, beginning at 6 p.m.

Survivors include four sons, Tyler McMasters, Lamar, Brandon Hammers and wife Michelle, Lamar, Noah Hammers, Mulberry, Kan. and Dustin Hammers and wife Traci, Nevada, Mo.; two daughters, Shelly Winningham and husband Chris, Wyandotte, Okla. and Amanda Hammers, Libby, Montana; two brothers, Carl McMasters and Robert Walker; two sisters, Elizabeth McMasters and Norma Thomason and husband John and 15 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James Elvin McMasters Jr. and Kenneth Norman McMasters.

Mrs. Hammers was born Oct. 18, 1966, in El Dorado Springs, to James Elvin and Lula Belle (Oyler) McMasters. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

The material for the screen will be installed late next week and hopefully, after some tweaking, the Barco will open May 3.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger At the April 15 meeting of the Lamar City Council, Lamar resident Rocky McCulloch invited councilmen and the city administrator to take a tour of the pool facilities on Thursday, April 18, as Mason Banes with KC Gunite was going to do a walk through to see what repairs might entail. Several showed up to view the pools, as well as to hear possible solutions. Banes explained that he had to first find out if the damage was structural or plumbing related. Elaine McCulloch noted that hopes are to retain the outdoor lap pool and to redo the indoor pool so that it could serve as a children’s pool following the removal of the enclosure. Banes is to let the McCullochs, as well as the city, know what he would recommend and the cost it would entail.
