ESTHER MIESSNER
GOLDEN CITY- Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Kistler Cemetery, southeast of Golden City, for Ether Rose Miessner, 97, Golden City, who died Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood. Minister Jim Wirth will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pugh Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Golden City.
Survivors include her brothers, Walter Wirth and Wesley Wirth and wife Dorothy, Golden City and nephews and nieces, Jim Wirth, Paulet Courtney, LeaAnn Duncan, Melissa Cooper, Gaylen Wirth and Tami Mayfield.
She was preceded in death by a nephew, Gary Wirth.
Mrs. Miessner was born March 4, 1920, in Golden City, to Conrad and Frieda Clara (Haustein) Wirth. She was a lifetime resident of the Golden City area, having graduated with the Golden City High School Class of 1939. She had been a sales clerk in many locations including Woody's Hardware and Salow Drug Store in Golden City and also Gamble's Drug Store in Greenfield.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Golden City, where she had played the piano and was treasurer for many years. She also spent a lot of time fishing on Grand Lake.
She married Oscar Miessner on March 12, 1940, in Golden City. He died March 7, 1992.
