JESSIE COONROD
PITTSBURG, Kan.- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada for Jessie Geraldine Coonrod, 94, who died Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg. Pastor Jim Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Large Cemetery, Fort Scott.
Memorial contributions may be made to Avalon Hospice, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her children, Bill Coonrod and wife Joyce, Bronaugh, Mo., Bob Coonrod and wife Linda, Nevada, Mo. and Margie Gazaway and husband Truman, Liberal, Mo.; grandchildren, Troy Munsterman, Brian Gazaway, Lisa McThompson, Jeff Coonrod and Mike Coonrod; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Pritchett and two brothers, Claude Parker and Charles Parker.
Mrs. Coonrod was born Feb. 20, 1923, in Fort Scott, to William Arthur and Bessie (Conner) Parker. She attended school in Fort Scott and was a 1941 graduate of Fort Scott High School. She was a farmer's wife and also worked for a time at Key Work Clothes in Fort Scott and the Nevada (Mo.) State Hospital for several years, before retiring in 1977. She lived most of her life in the Garland and Moundville, Mo. area before moving to Liberal, Mo. in 1997 and Pittsburg in 2010. She enjoyed sewing, raising flowers and gardening, and hours spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She married Jack Coonrod on July 18, 1941, in Fort Scott. He died Feb. 16, 1982.
