HENRIETTA CALLEN
LIBERAL- A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Iantha Cemetery for Henrietta Callen, 98, formerly of Liberal, who died Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Good Shepherd Community Care in Lockwood. Dr. Mark Turnbough will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.
Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Community Care Center or a charity of donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include four nieces and their families, Linda Woodall and husband Ron, Tucson, Ariz., Judy Loch, Oswego, Ill., Becky Blackford and husband David, Lamar and Sandy Karas and husband Earl, Warrensburg; several nephews and nieces and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Callen; two brothers, Gerald and Harl Palmer and a sister, Carol Robertson.
Mrs. Callen was born July 15, 1918, in Liberal, to Taylor and Bertha (Comby) Palmer. After graduating from Liberal High School she furthered her education in Business School in Kansas City, where she met the love of her life, Samuel W. Callen. They were married June 24, 1945, in Liberal and made their home in Kansas City where she worked as an executive secretary for Commerce Bank for many years. After retiring in 1975, she and her husband moved to Springfield in a9179, where they were active members of Wesley United Methodist Church.
They enjoyed traveling and had made great memories through trips to Europe, as well as all across the United States. She was an accomplished musician, playing the piano and organ. After sharing 54 years together, her husband died on Sept. 26, 1999. In 2007, she moved to Lamar to be near family. She lived there until 2011, when she entered Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood.
