LAMAR- Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakton United Methodist Church for Charles Gerald Suiter, 90, Lamar, who died Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Truman Healthcare in Lamar. Kent Garfield and Larry Garfield will officiate. Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.

Visitation will be held at the church, prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m.

Arrangements were under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Louise; a daughter, Lois Crockett, Joplin; two sons, Dennis Suiter and wife Sherry, Lamar and Dale Suiter and wife Lea Ann, Broken Arrow, Okla.; one brother, Ray Suiter, Kansas City; five grandchildren, Jason, Jeffrey and Jeanne Crockett, De Ann Fitzanko and Alexandrea Ogren and three great-grandchildren, Jenna, Jarrett and Josie Crockett.

Mr. Suiter was born August 30, 1926, at home in rural Barton County, to Charley Jacob and Clara Edna (Dickson) Suiter. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on November 1, 1945 and served in Germany during World War II. After the war he returned to Barton County and worked in various occupations, including carpentry and farming. He worked at the soil conservation office and at Lawn Boy, as well as on his farm.

He married Dillia Louise Wilhelm on April 8, 1951, at Oakton Methodist Church and it wasn't long after that he felt and understood the call to be a minister of the gospel. He served the Bethel Church for many years as a bi-vocational minister. Later on, after selling their farm he went into full time ministry. He served several churches until he retired from full time ministry.

He was involved in oil exploration and soil sampling in the oil fields in Oklahoma and had also worked for Associated Milk Producers before he retired.
