FRANK LUCAS

LAMAR- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Daniel Funeral Home for Emmett Franklin Lucas, 87, Lamar, who died Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin. Darrell Doss will officiate. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Contributions are suggested to Lamar VFW, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Beverly; two sons, Gerald Lucas, Pittsburg, Kan. and Kenneth Lucas, Mulberry, Kan.; a daughter, Deborah Horton, Pittsburg, Kan. and a stepdaughter, Janet Lopez, Joplin; seven grandchildren, Gregory Horton, Cynthia King, Jeremy Lucas, Sarah Homewood, Levi Lucas, Sheena Devore and Tara Dombeck and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Lucas and two sisters, Evlyn Higgins and Alice Behrend.

Mr. Lucas was born March 9, 1930, in Bushnell, to Oscar and Ada (Felkner) Lucas. He served his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He had worked at Thorco for 37 years and retired as a foreman. He enjoyed gardening and was famous for his tomatoes. He also loved to read and spend time with his family and friends.

He married Beverly Thomas on June 8, 1974.
