Mr. Hobbs was born Nov. 21, 1936, in Bartonville, Ill., to Harley and Vivian (Wilkinson) Hobbs. After serving in the U.S. Navy he began a career as a high voltage electrician. He completed many projects, living in many places before his last assignment at China Lake Naval Weapons Base in Ridgecrest, Calif. After retiring in 1997, he settled in Missouri where he had more time to spend with his family. Playing pool, fishing with his nephews, reading William Johnstone novels, watching western movies and outings with his sister filled his time. Winning a national billiards trophy was a highlight for him, but his best memories were made with his grandkids and he cherished any activity that could be shared (along with his favorite M&Ms and PayDays) with them.

He married Barbara Skiles on Oct. 4, 1973, at Oberlin, Kan. She died April 26, 1987.
