Medicare members beware of telephone scam

Citizens who are on Medicare should be aware of a telephone scam which has appeared in Lamar. A male caller identifies himself as calling from Medicare, and asks the person receiving the call to verify his/her membership by giving him all the numbers on their Medicare card.

That number is the cardholder's Social Security number. Do NOT give out any numbers. Hang up, immediately.
