LANA COOPER
PITTSBURG, Kan.- A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sheldon (Mo.) Cemetery for Lana Juanita Cooper, 86, Pittsburg, formerly of Sheldon, Mo., who died at 9:02 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017, at Medicalodges of Frontenac. J.T. Knoli will give the eulogy. The family will receive friends at the cemetery, prior to the service, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bedene Funeral Home, Arma.
Survivors include two daughters, Terry Elrod and husband Doug, Pittsburg and Billie Platner and husband Shawn, Webb City, Mo.; a son, Jim Cooper and wife Teresa, Lamar, Mo.; a sister, Carol Lewallen, Bartlesville, Okla.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Upton.
Mrs. Cooper was born June 7, 1931, at Kirksville, Mo., to Hugh D. and Gladys Christelle (Greenstreet) Upton. She was a retired postmistress who had worked in Iantha, Sheldon and Mindenmines. Mo. She was reared in Sheldon and a graduate of Sheldon High School. She had lived in Sheldon prior to moving to Pittsburg in 1982.
She enjoyed singing on Fridays at the nursing home. She was a member of the Postal Union.
