SHELDON-Rosary was held at 5 p.m. Sunday, at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar for Mary Marie Polston, 95, Sheldon, who died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Oakview Estates in Frontenac, Kan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial following at Sheldon Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lamar St. Mary's Catholic Church, Barton County Humane Society or Wounded Warrior Project, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include a son, Mike Polston and wife Barb, Lamar; a daughter, Maggie Polston, San Jose, Calif.; a granddaughter, Ashley Polston; a brother, Floyd Simon and wife Lucille, Frontenac, Kan., and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Polston was born April 12, 1920, at Cherokee, Kan., to John and Maggie (Castagno) Simon. After graduating high school at Cherokee, she attended Mt. Carmel Hospital Nursing School in Pittsburg, where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1941 and worked at Mt. Carmel Hospital for many years.
She married John Francis Polston on Jan. 13, 1945. He preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 1986. In 1968 she received her Missouri license and worked at the Missouri State Hospital for 20 years. She and her husband owned and operated Polston Market in Sheldon for many years. After selling the market in 1966 they moved to a farm northwest of Sheldon and lived there until 2013, when she moved to Frontenac. She was an avid Kansas City Royals and NASCAR fan, and was always proud of her granddaughter, Ashley, for becoming an attorney. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Nevada, Mo. and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church part of the time in Lamar. She was also a member of the Jolly Senior Citizens of Sheldon, VFW Auxiliary and Retired Nurses Group.
