HAROLD “WOODY” MONTGOMERY
GOLDEN CITY- Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 21, at Greenfield Funeral Chapel for Harold Woodrow “Woody” Montgomery, 95, Golden City, who died Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery on Hwy. D, northwest of Lockwood.
Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel prior to the service, beginning at 2 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Barrios, Ozark and Connie Kiblinger and husband Don, Strafford; a sister, Phyllis Overman, San Jose, Calif.; a son-in-law, Jim Murphy, Orange, Calif.; six grandchildren, Christine (Murphy) Serbia and husband Jim, Carlsbad, Calif., Shawn Murphy, Buellton, Calif., Michelle Barrios, Ozark, Stephanie Barrios and Brandon Manes, Ozark, Jean (Kiblinger) Rockafellow and husband Chris, Strafford and Cheri (Kiblinger) Cobb and husband Johnny, Strafford; six great-grandchildren, Jamie Serbia, Megan Murphy, Cory Murphy, Jessica Rockafellow, Paige Rockafellow and Garrett Cobb and one great-great-grandchild, Amelia Murphy.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Marie; a daughter, Peggy Sue Murphy and a son-in-law, David Anthony Barrios.
Mr. Montgomery was born Oct. 20, 1921, in rural Greene County, to Clovis and Mabel Gertrude (Johnson) Montgomery. He was a graduate of Lockwood High School. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a Private First Class in the 490th Field Artillery Division and was very proud of his military service.
He retired from General Motors as a quality control supervisor. He loved fishing, playing golf and watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball. He enjoyed playing poker with his family and friends at family gatherings.
He married Dixie Lou Windes on Feb. 14, 1942, in Dade County. She preceded him in death.
