LAMAR- Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Daniel Funeral Home for Betty Eloise Gordon-Dennis, 72, Lamar, who died Sunday morning, July 16, 2017, surrounded by family at Truman Healthcare Center. Burial will be in Sheldon Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Barton County Senior Center, Lamar First Christian Church or OATS Transportation, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include four brothers and their wives, Jerry and Lura Gordon, Jasper, Gary and Patricia Gordon, Carthage and Bob and Peggy Gordon and Ron and Soni Gordon, Claremore, Okla.; an uncle and three aunts, Jack and Carolyn Gordon, Nevada, Mo., Rosalee Potter, Lamar and Lucille George, Iola, Kan.; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces and a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Janet and a niece, Sheila (Gordon) Mayfield.

Mrs. Gordon-Dennis was born Jan. 22, 1945, in Madera, Calif., to Willis and Martha (George) Gordon. She married Luther Lee Dennis on Sept. 2, 1989. He died Sept. 6, 2001. She moved to Lamar to be with her mother in 2001 and became an active member of First Christian Church, where she enjoyed the fellowship, participated in the Splash Group and Keenagers, enjoyed helping with the nursery and the Sunny Corner Sunday School Class.

She had worked for Jed Brown’s Model Cafe, Carthage, for many years and later in the housekeeping departments at McCune Brooks and Barton County Memorial. She looked forward to the senior center every morning, riding OATS and the taxi, playing cards and dominoes with family and friends, going to Wednesday afternoon matinees at the Plaza, listening to her favorite gospel or country songs and watching the Hallmark channel on TV. She was well known in the community and enjoyed visiting with everyone she met on her daily travels.
