LOCKWOOD- A prayer service and rotary will be held Tuesday, at Pugh Funeral Home in Golden City for Severin Edward Poirot, 92, rural Golden City, who died Friday, Sept. 8, 2017. Visitation will follow from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Greenfield. Burial will be in Lockwood Cemetery. A lunch and remembrance gathering will be held at approximately 12 noon, at the United Methodist Family Life Center in Lockwood.

Survivors include two sisters, Julia A. Thomas and Kathleen A. Griesemer; five children, Severin J. Poirot and wife Venecia, Michael J. Poirot and wife Patricia, Mary K. Jones and husband David, Jonathan Poirot and Christopher J. Poirot; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; an honorary daughter, Chandana Chopra and husband Sanjeev and honorary grandchildren, Sonia and Neil, Marietta, Ga.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Krautmann and a grandson, Lathan Glaser.

Mr. Poirot was born at home on Feb. 10, 1925, to Eugene M. and Mary F. (Brady) Poirot. He earned a BS in Agriculture from the University of Missouri. He served in the US Navy during World War II (1943-45), primarily as an expert in electronics and radar communication. He married Annetta Margaret “Nan” Meyer on May 7, 1948, in Columbia, Mo. In 1950 they moved to the Poirot family farm near Golden City, where they lived most of the rest of their lives. She preceded him in death on Sept. 12, 2015.
