MAXINE MORIN

LAMAR-Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Daniel Funeral Home for Ina Maxine Morin, 88, Lamar, who died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. Mike Gage will officiate. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Barton County Senior Center or Lamar First Christian Church, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include two sons, Max Orahood and wife Kathy, Lamar and Mike Morin and wife Tanya, El Dorado Springs; three daughters, Donna Wescott, Sue Lockridge and husband John and Sondra Riegel and husband Tom, all of Lamar; a sister, Virginia Evans and husband Harold, Beaver Creek, Ore.; two brothers, Edwin Sims and wife Linda, Nevada, Mo. and Garland Sims and wife Betty, Seneca; 17 grandchildren, Jamey Wescott, Mitch Orahood and wife Jennifer, Tom Orahood and wife Crystal, R.D. Lemmons and wife Candi, Willie Lemmons, Gretchen Dickey and husband Daniel, Phillip Gould and wife Diane, Rhiannon Lockridge, Johnna Williams and husband David, Coby Fullerton and husband Ryan, Heidi Gardner and husband Kevin, Lacee Onstott and husband Rodney, Cory Gayman and wife Whitney, Marc Morin and wife Michelle, Trey Gayman, Lakyn Gayman and Nichole Morin; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Sims and a sister, Margaret Rea.
Mrs. Morin was born Sept. 4, 1926, on the family farm near Jasper, to Oval and Nancy (Law) Sims. She had worked as a seamstress at Big Smith in Lamar for 25 years and the Division of Motor Vehicles, taking photos for driver's licenses for 12 years. Always active in her community, she served as past-president and current secretary for the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 3691 and was a past-president of the Auxiliary of the District VFW. Maxine had been a member of Calla Rebekah Lodge, LAPM and LEA for more than 60 years, serving in every position locally, as well as Missouri State President. She enjoyed the fellowship of the Red Hat Society, the Morning Breakfast Club and Fiber Art Guild. Many will remember and miss her warm and personal Maxine's Musings column in the Lamar Democrat for the past 10 years. She was a faithful member of Lamar Christian Church.
She married Don Orahood on Feb. 3, 1946, and they shared nearly 40 years together at his death on April 5, 1985. She married Eddie Morin on March 17, 1988, and he preceded her in death July 18, 2014.
