JASPER- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Weng Funeral Chapel, for Leland William Johnson, 84, Jasper, who died Saturday, Sept. 2017, at his home, surrounded by family. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery, east of Jasper.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mitchell Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Sue, of the home; three daughters, Terry Rives and husband Chub, Jasper, Pam Oeltjen and husband Rick, Carthage and Jan Johnson and Doug Lucas, Jasper; one sister, Jewell Elliott, Webb City; six grandchildren, Rusty Rives and wife Becky, Casey Rives and wife Alicia, Marcy Garver and husband Bryan, Gabe Oeltjen, Phil Oeltjen and wife Jarica and Ellie Lucas and 11 great-grandchildren, Chase, Brady, Cody, Blaine, Braxton, Bryer, Mylah, Carter, Claire, Ian and Caitlyn.

He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Johnson and a brother-in-law, Steve Elliott.

Mr. Johnson was born Feb. 20, 1933, at Carthage. He was a 1952 graduate of Jasper High School. He was a member of the Jasper VFW Post 6415 and was a former member of the Mitchell Cemetery Board.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, spending 18 months in Ulm, Germany. After his military service, he returned to Jasper to begin farming and to operate a dairy east of Jasper.

He married Sue Phillips on Aug. 30, 1952, at Carthage.
