CHESTER F. ALUMBAUGH, JR.

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Longview Chapel Christian Church, in Lee’s Summit for Chester F. “Chet” Alumbaugh, Jr., 92, Kansas City, Mo., who died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017. Burial was in Longview Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Longview Funeral Home in Kansas City, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Longview Chapel Christian Church in his name.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, D. Juanita; his sons, Craig Alumbaugh and wife Mary Beth, Lee’s Summit and Kevin Alumbaugh and wife Liz, Black Hawk, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Tesh and husband Dick, Joplin and nephews, Steve Alumbaugh, Larry Alumbaugh and Clayton Lee Alumbaugh and wife Queta, Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, all of whom served in the military during wartime and returned home and a sister, Imogene Miller.

Mr. Alumbaugh was born Feb. 27, 1925, in rural Lamar, to Chester F. Alumbaugh, Sr. and Mable Elsie (Heisten) Alumbaugh. He began his career with a partnership in Fairyland Park in Kansas City, then he moved to Wichita, Kan. for three years in a partnership and then went on to manage Wonderland Arcade for 28 years and A&W Root Beer Walk-in in Kansas City. He will be remembered for his love for horses. He had two prize winning horses, one in the Sedalia Fair and one at the American Royal. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1944 to 1946, which led to being involved in the battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines.
